Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

I was just on Amazon looking for the top selling herbal supplements for soar throat. (Not buying from Amazon it’s just an easier search) Yeah, now I got the crap. I was searching certain herbs and teas. White pine, marshmallow and also searching cough/lung clear supplements. I kept seeing supplements and especially tinctures and oils with spike or spike protein in the name. I’ll do a dedicated search in a few days. You never know if these supplements are legit. There’s more bad supplement/herb companies than good ones.
Before Amazon, before using natural remedies became as commercialized as it is now, my first "all natural healing" introduction was apple cider vinegar and honey, while fasting. We are talking 1974-75. It's a funny story how I discovered it. I had two cats and they were both ill, but I had no money to treat both of them. One of them went to the Vets, the other I nursed through the night with an eye dropper of ACV and Honey every hour. By dawn the cat was drinking on its own, by the next evening he was cured. I had little money and it cost me the rent to bail the other cat out of the hospital. I started researching at the library then, about herbs and natural healing. I discovered that Elder flowers were listed, and I swear by it to this day as a gentle tea to drink when sick with the flu or a bad cold. It makes you sweat, and seems to clear out the sickness. Just elder flower tea, and fasting on water. The fasting will stop inflammation, which produces the mucus that clogs you up. Of course, now with other complications, I do swallow a lot of suppplements, and they work for me, but the first thing to do with any illness, in my opinion, is letting the body fight the infections by fasting, as you need all of your energy for healing, not digesting foods and such. I also have made a "cocktail" of chopped garlic, lemon joice, and a sprinkle of cayenne, in a shot glass. Knock it down, it will make you stomp your feet, but seems to flush out those sinus. You have changed a lot about your diet, so there is that de toxing going on too. Best of God's grace to you moody, be well.
That’s for the tips and well wishes. I forgot about elderberry flowers. I’ve got some and will make a cup of tea. I’ve done vinegar, lemon and ginger lots in my life. My main go to is usually lemon and ginger. Since changing diet I don’t have any here. The diet plan has taken a halt till I’m better. Drinking lots of herbal teas for symptoms and some supplements. I’ve done garlic and lemon before and it didn’t make a difference. I doubt the grocery store garlic has medicinal properties like homegrown.
