Think of a teenager, or a young adult who has no interest in politics. All they've ever heard is that Russia and Putin are evil. If you had an opportunity to explain to them why the war is happening - what would you say?

Ukraine is Deep State central with a very large contingent of Nazis. In the Soviet Union days a lot of Russians moved to Ukraine for the weather and other reasons. Most of them in the eastern part. After the fall of the SU, the Ukrainian government has been trying to force them out or kill them. The DS set up several bio-warfare labs in the country. Russia has been taking out the labs, killing the Nazis and securing the parts of the country with the most Russians.
Other stuff, but that should cover the attention span.
