I drove seven hours yesterday morning from NorCal to west LA to trade my car in for a truck, then drove back home in the afternoon... the weather was not as bad as they are trying to sensationalize it.
There was some nastiness, like playing chicken with thousands of tumbleweeds on the 5 for a couple hours, but overall not too wild.
Never seen anything like what happened in Northern Calfiornia - an entire day of extremely gusty winds to almost hurricane force - non stop - then starting late in day, torrential rains with the winds.
Still not enough rain to wash away the evil in LA.

that happened here too (in SE queensland) last monday night. over 12 inches in 3 hours. then nothing.
