What is this request by Trump anyways? For him to be immune? Doesn't that mean all past president's would be immune as well?

So Trump is hoping he doesn't get immunity right?
My take: Trump gets to present evidence of the DS insurrection in the form of election fraud and consequently Trump was doing his duty of trying to protect the Republic.

It's a good question. If the SC overturns this, then the precedent goes away. Maybe Trump's lawyers won't appeal it but rather file an appeal based on Jack Smith being improperly appointed. The precedent remains, the case goes away. I can't see the Supreme Court leaving this in place though.
