Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

Damn, being single the past 5 years , I can not relate to any music! My sister jams and has so much drama. Me, I'm like..... nope!
My fren, try something totally out your comfort zone
independent rap
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ID3ko66HIts Tech n9ne ft Krizz Kaliko and CesCru - Unfair, you won't believe this is LIVE but it is. Radio rap does not sound like this and a decade later it is still fresh and on another level.
Korean pop

Gidle - wife. one of the weirdest, qurkiest, and hilarious sounding kpop songs of all time. Super polarizing but very catchy and sounds like nothing out there, Gidle's leader Soyeon is a genius in her genre
Rock

Coheed and Cambria- Pavilion
One of their most emotional and epic songs. Anyone who has lived a long life or chased a dream, could relate to these lyrics. It is a soaring rock anthem with ballad sensibilities and very unique amongst their backcatalog
Soundtrack

Persona 4/golden soundtrack. Video games have come a long way in terms of their music. Even if you hate games, the Persona 4 soundtrack in its entirety is filled with so many different types of music and is overall as catchy as it is eclectic. A mix of great vocal and instrumental music that sounds unlike anything in movies or TV.

Cambria and coheed def yess. First one nope. I like the second one better one out of the 2. If I have to pick.
What genre of music do you usually like? Maybe something new to you would be helpful. I grew up in the 70s and that’s my favorite genre. I listen to almost every genre except rap & classical. I gravitate towards singer songwriters more than anything. 70s music has a lot of that. New singer songwriters are mostly in country (not on radio) and Americana which is more soulful music.
Interesting. 76 here. I like rap, and old music. Except blues and jazz.
I’m listening to more Americana genre than other genres. You won’t hear much of this on the radio. Other times I gravitate to classic rock and old R&B. In addition to my most regular listening, these mainstream country singer songwriters are usually in my constant rotation: Miranda Lambert, Eric Church & Chris Stapleton.
Ray Lamontange’s music reminds of James Taylor with more upbeat music. I consider it easy listening.
Anderson East music reminds of soulful early R&B. He’s very energetic, has full band and writes his music.
Tyler Childers has some of the best lyrics. His voice isn’t like anyone I’ve ever heard. Like very old country music. From Kentucky and you can hear about the hard living in his lyrics. (I listen to several artists from Kentucky and Texas. They seem to be the best storytellers.
Sturgill Simpson, it’s hard to describe each album has a different theme. His lyrics are very straightforward. More like very old country music.
Red Stray Clays, the lead singer’s reminds me of very early country like Hank William’s Sr.
Grace Potter also listed as Grace Potter and the nocturnals. Rock that’s soulful. She’s got one of the best voices I’ve ever heard and places the guitar like old rockers. The music with nocturnals is better.
Walker Hayes is country that’s like mild wrap. Not sure how to describe it. Very fun upbeat music with unusual lyrics. Album: 8 tracks Vol 1 Good Shit (the name). You might have heard him on the Applebees commercial, “fancy like applebees”
Nathaniel Rateliff & the night sweats, very old school sound with full band.
Casey Donahew & Cody Johnson: both from Texas. I like people like this that haven’t sold out to the industry.
Let me know if you like any of these. It’s hard recommending music because we have different musical tastes.
I’m a huge Avenged Sevenfold fan!
They have just the right mix of heavy-metal and melodic music. The way they put it together, really makes my heart sing.
I would try City of Evil for a start! But my all-time favorite is Waking the Fallen - but it’s definitely an acquired taste. Some other songs are very prophetic, although they’re not a Christian band.
There are a lot of other reasons why this is my favorite band. Their drummer, and my husband died the same year 2009. The Following album “Nightmare” 2010 was very cathartic for me. Many of the songs dealt with grief. I had a mental break down when my husband of 30 - died unexpectedly, A7X and their music really helped me to heal. They have a new album out, and I’m really gonna have to go check it out.
I was fortunate enough to see Avenged Sevenfold - System of a Down - Disturbed - all at one concert in Arizona before my husband died. We went together as a family. Good times.
Neil piert3Sorry pepe can't do rush. My ex bil best the hell put those drums trying to be rush next to me for Years I tell You Years! I hate Rush! Niel peirt exceptional! Bil Not!
I , if I had, single dude frens, would def let them know. I'm female pepe. Probably why I don't like rush. Lol. And know of them only because of ex bil. Ty fren.
👏👏👏😂🤣😂🤣
After A Farewell to Kings, I really wasn’t pleased with the direction they took their band. I think I’ve seen them about eight or 10 times in concert. I grew up in Southern California so I went to a lot of concerts.
