Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I just can’t with these kind of people

Cohen… 😂🤣😂🤣
So it’s wrong not to stand for a made up song for blacks? But it’s ok if you don’t stand the song written over two hundred years ago for United States of America. I don’t believe these hot air bags believe in what they preach. It’s all for show and division. Sadly the average person is brainwashed with this agenda. Thankfully most people don’t buy into the agenda.
Agree Fren, it’s a made up issue. We are all Americans we have our song. They even try to change that with their voice inflections. Check this out from a Marine stationed overseas probably last year:
Super bowl Sunday: From a Marine Corps Colonel in Afghanistan: "So with all the kindness I can muster, I give this one piece of advice to the next pop star who is asked to sing the national anthem at a sporting event: save the vocal gymnastics and the physical gyrations for your concerts. Just sing this song the way you were taught to sing it in kindergarten - straight up, no styling. "Sing it with the constant awareness that there are soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines watching you from bases and outposts all over the world. Don't make them cringe with your self-centered ego gratification. Sing it as if you are standing before a row of 86-year-old WWII vets wearing their Purple Hearts, Silver Stars and flag pins on their cardigans and you want them to be proud of you for honoring them and the country they love - not because you want them to think you are a superstar musician. They could see that from your costume, makeup and your entourage. Sing 'The Star Spangled Banner' with the courtesy and humility that tells the audience that it is about America, not you." Semper Fi!
Excellent points. There are times we just need a song sung and not a damned circus show. National Anthem shouldn’t be about your ego. Chris Stapleton is the best with national anthem so far in my opinion. He sung it in his style. If you aren’t familiar with his singing style you might think he was trying to be noticed. That’s not him.
Love me some Stapleton
