The Congress was elected to represent individual states and districts to the U.S. Government (incorporated).
When Trump wins... who knows if U.S. Government (incorporated) will comprise a tiny dot of the walled-in foreign land called Washington DC. The Congress and those elected to it may not have any power within the remaining 99.9999999999% of the United States.
New elections may be required for a NEW Congress of the Republic of the United States of America.
I believe, as much as people get frustrated with him, Speaker Johnson is the firewall against this happening. That’s why we see the continuing resolutions and stand alone bills. He doesn’t want to pass these huge omnibus bills that are crammed full of items that will be hard to repeal and replace.
Speaker Johnson is cleverly trying to run out the clock while not giving the Dems the typical talking points to beat on Republicans during the election campaigns.
I agree. It's sad though that politics is so dirty, corrupt and filled with folks getting rich rather than doing what's right. Human nature I know, but still sad that this is the 'norm' rather than the exception.
But, of course, they have an insurance plan even if Trump pulls it off. Though few have noticed, buried in the bill’s text is a kill switch for the next Trump presidency. The legislation explicitly requires funding for Ukraine well into the next presidential term. The Washington Post has already reported this provision was added to control Donald Trump.
It gets worse. Back in 2019, Democrats articulated a novel theory of impeachment, based on Trump’s refusal to spend money from the USAI—Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative. Five years after impeaching Trump for refusing to spend money on Ukraine, they have drafted a new law that again requires Trump to spend money on Ukraine. If he negotiates an end to the war, as he has promised to do, they will undoubtedly argue that he has broken the law. We are nearly a year away from an election that could give Trump the presidency, and Ukraine-obsessive Republicans have already given the Democrats a predicate to impeach him.
Toward the end of this article is a new poison pill tactic. They wrote in that Trump could not suspend sending money to Ukraine and could not negotiate the end of the war. On an interview with Steve Bannon this am, Vance said "you heard it here first, they will use this to impeach Trump" I have a bad feeling about the look of all bills going forward in 2024. It seems all of DC is hell bent on pre-laying traps to a second term for Trump.
Yep, once they've realized Trump is likely to win, the establishment is probably
laying traps all over the place within government. This is where Trump needs to pick the right people.
The joke is on THEM.

Those Rino fuckers need to go.
