Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Sometimes you gotta admit when you are defeated and get help. Today is the 17th day I’ve been sick. The past three nights have been awful. Coughing & almost heaving to get a tiny speck of phlegm out. I’ve had bronchitis several times and this was way worse. During the day I’m feel fine but lots of coughing. This morning I went to Mainstreet Family Care, it’s an urgent care facility. I didn’t like that they don’t have a physical check in with a person and you have to do everything online. After that speed bump things were good. I have a primary care doctor but they won’t see you for things like this, won’t work you in. You have to go to the night clinic and wait several hours. The same company has a walk in at the clinic and I’ve been and waiting over four hours before. They were not like this before covid. My daughter works at the clinic and the management won’t hire the necessary staff. She had a uti a few months ago and couldn’t be seen at walk in. She asked the dr she works for to run UTI. He rolled his eyes when she told him about walk in closing early because they didn’t have the staff. So I figured I’d give this new place a try.
I put off going to the doctor because I didn’t want to be tested! It got so bad I didn’t see much choice in the matter. I thought the test were all in one, flu, covid & rsv. This place did three separate tests and strep tests. All were negative and they did an xray of my chest. Overnight I developed ear pain. As I expected I have an upper respiratory infection and ear infection. My co pay was $35.00 & they have the prescriptions on site if you want instead of going to drugstore. I’m pretty sure I paid more for RX than at Walgreens. But it was worth it. My insurance is contracted with Walgreens. And I think most insurance companies are hence the reason Walgreens takes forever to get your RX done. I’ve left dr office needing antibiotics and they say it will be 48 hours. That’s what big insurance like BCBS is doing. Last time I went to pain doctor I had rx switch to Sams. The lidocaine patchs I get at Walgreens is $10.00 at Sam’s $95.00. They say monopolies are banned in America but clearly they aren’t.
I would go back if sick again. The level of care by people who seem to care reminds me of how it was going to the doctor in the 70s. I’m not blindsided, I know they would want to give RX for cholesterol, BP etc.
They asked the same questions: Been out of country or state? Been around anyone with blank, blank, blank. I always say no because they are trying for to much information. Sure I got this from my daughter & family but I just say, no to being around sick people. First time I’ve been asked this. Have you had a covid shot in the last two weeks? That tells me they know but don’t admit the vaccine makes you sick.
In the office I got tordal injection for inflammation. They wanted to do steroid but I had cortisone shot at pain doctor three weeks ago. Too soon for another one. Learned something about that. Steroids weaken your immune system. When I got the cortisone three weeks ago I had been exposed to my family being sick. Who knows if it makes a difference. I left there with Prednisone, Augmentin & a capsule rx for cough.
I think going forward I should get horse paste and if possible order antibiotics online for future exposures. I’ve been slack with supplements and gotta get back on it. Once again I’m off strict carnivore for a bit. Need yogurt for the antibiotics. At least I haven’t gained during this mess.
If you have a chronic condition with coughing you have my sympathy. It’s stressful on the body!
Thank you to everyone offering prayers during this time. I appreciate y’all more than I could ever express. Not posting for that. Really wanted to say it was great to find a medical facility that’s caring and really believes you are sick. It wasn’t about Covid and vaccines.
