I work in Ai. I generate machine learning data which trains models. I understand where you are getting at but the likelihood that Ai will be stopped is close to 0. It would be better to have good guys in positions to intercept ai when generating weopons against the people. For example. WD the makers of hard-drives and other hardwares, wanted a minority report style ai which can take all traffic, webcam, etc footage that's available to them and "rewind" a protester, or enemy back to their car, get their license plate, rewind back to their house and know who they are and where they live. BUT because of my position, I was able to prevent this from happening.
Unfortunately you are correct. The Genie isn't going back into the bottle.
I have two primary concerns. One, by all appearances good guys like you are the exception rather than the rule in high tech. Two, and this is the big one, what happens when that "I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that" moment comes?
Video and other surveillance methods are now at a near "1984" levels. In a society controlled by good guys, that would not be as bad as one like ours is. One controlled by a machine is unspeakable.
