Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I know its only a few hours, but are there any updates to the trucker nyc boycott? I have not heard anything other than hopium, and today it seems strangely quiet
i guess there isn't an organized boycott so it's slowly picking up steam. i read 'monday' and then starting monday for 7 days and now i just read 3 years. it might be pretty early to tell. here's a post about it though if you want to read through comments. https://twitter.com/CollinRugg/status/1759626731781259613
did the texas border one actually happen?
I figured if the truckers started todat, we wont see an effect for a few days aleast with friday it being noticeable. 3 years, is a new one for me, holy molly if that happened.
Texas one fizzled away. Ppl didn't want their plates recorded for the government to find them (i heard).
My son is a trucker and from the stories he tells me about how hard it is to find work, it's not cool for dudes like Alex Jones and Trump to just throw them to the wolves and risk their livelihoods. My son has told me that if he refuses a load, he is blackballed by that company for good, and all of trucking is now controlled by 4-5 companies.
Neither Jones nor Trump asked them to boycott NYC. The truckers themselves, from what I have heard, organized this amongst themselves, so it is a rather grassroots situation.
And it is only a few days ever since we first heard about this boycott attempt. Give it some time to build up steam.

Both of them endorsed and called for it in direct posts on X and Truth Social.
The people organizing it are not truckers, they are media personalities.
That sucks. Ok, i heard about this boycott, the reporting was through the roof over the weekend till now where its silence. Guess its not gonna go anywhere. Its quiet atm so idk but not holding my breathe
Yeah, it will probably die out, people like Charlie Kirk and Ben Shapiro are screaming for truckers to do this, but they aren't the ones that will get blackballed.
My son knows a ton of people who lost their jobs over joining a few of these protests and are now working at UPS and Walmart because they can't get driving work anymore.
Most people don't know that the big 5 trucking companies are owned by a handful of very liberal people itching to cancel people and cut hours.
