Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat

Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.

Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment

If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I'm beginning to have serious doubt about the need to take thyroid medicine. The stuff is supposed to give people energy and make them lose weight. I've been taking the stuff for several years now and have never lost any weight. I never feel full of energy. I don't see the point in taking the stuff anymore.
I’m currently watching this video on the subject of carnivore diet and they are branching into going to the doctor, having tests etc. At around 56 they are talking about thyroid issues, diagnosis & test. They probably touch on food affecting it. Different labs give different results and more information.

Just on a hunch, try low carb intermmittent fasting for a couple weeks and see if it makes a difference. Also cut out alcohol and all processed sugars during this time.
I’ve researched it a lot because I have multiple symptoms, too many to ignore. Doctor’s are a dang joke! From what I read RX for thyroid helps at first then it doesn’t and you are worse in the long run. They put my brother on thyroid rx years ago. He lost job and couldn’t meds. Last year same dr said it was perfect and don’t know why he was on meds. He’s the one that prescribed it. I could go on and about that quack!
Natural medicine may be helpful. It’s trial and error. Taking herb/plant med is different that RX. Might take 6 months to tell a difference. Many times people including myself, think it’s not working get off and find out it was helping.
Her story might give you some insight. I believe she is legit. I’ve been reading her blog for years. She’s got several articles on her journey.
Always check different sources. Take advice from certified herbalist. I’ve been researching natural medicine a long. If I could find good naturopathic dr I would have been years ago. Not a lot in my area and I don’t trust reviews online. They start around $500.00 first visit but it’s several hours. In the long run it’s cheaper than buying things that don’t work.

Good reference. He has a patient story for several conditions. Also search herbs that will be helpful learning

Great supplements I take a few different ones. Start with one and build up slowly. They have good customer service by email.

I started Carnivore 12/27/23 and did a lot of research prior. I’ve seen many people say it cured thyriod as well as a lot more. I have not been on long enough to testify miracles. It has improved certain things. It’s a huge adjustment at first. You need support! It would be hard cooking for family what I didn’t eat.
If you need links for herbal tinctures or brands of supplements I don’t mind sharing who I trust.
If a person has just been prescribed or if they have their dosage changed, it takes six weeks for it to show up on a test. If the doctor prescribes a dosage that's too low, the person has to go through six weeks of feeling terrible before they get tested again. If I was to quit taking it today, I wouldn't find out what my base line is for six weeks.
I never test for the need to take this but it does help my fibro. I'm actually trying to wean myself off all my meds. I keep thinking I don't want to be dependent when TSHTF
It’s doable but take it slow. You don’t want bad withdrawals! Been there😕 After 25 years on meds for multiple chronic pain conditions I’m off of anything 24/7. Still take something occasionally. I have a great pain doctor and lidocaine patches and shots are helpful. I mainly use herbs and supplements.
