It's maddening. I'm from the US, living in Canada, and I hear that shit all the time. "I know US politics, because I watch CNN."

And as for reaching across the aisle... That's been business as usual for the last 60 years. PRETEND to be different, but always vote for shit that pads their own pockets. What they really want is to be comfortable in their slumber. Trump made them uncomfortable by turning the lights on.

Shining the light in the darkness doesn't just mean being a shiny, happy person, or example to others. It means turning on the damn light so people can't sleep. Trump did that to them, and they hate him for it.
