There is a way to de-escalate, and NATO has refused to do anything but go the opposite direction.
They either want to expose Russia as rattling sabers and being a limp noodle like North Korea which further damages Russian standing, or they want to engage in all out war directly to attempt to crush Russia with the backing of the world and citizenry.
It's a pretty bleak projection, but Russia's only course of action is to stand up for itself while offering reasonable terms for peace (e.g. not joining NATO, nor housing NATO on Russian borders, etc. and so on.)
