I always forget how old some of my frens are around here. Probably my own projection but I just assume everyone here is Gen X Americans. If I knew you in real life I'd be coaxing you out fishing with beer and the boat just to hear your stories.
Wouldn't have to coax. The stories suck. It was a dual life: one was going along with the bull, the other was the other side: trying to find truth among the crap piles.
Out in the woods, fishing, hunting, panning gold, made no difference: it's like going back to real life.
Sounds like we're similar and just grew up in a different generation. I once made it a month off grid without in person communication with a single human. I really miss how quiet it was.
It IS refreshing to get out of the city for a few days or more. Since retiring, I live in the outback of MO; peaceful, except for a road easement though the middle. I have sympathy for those still in cities, sort of.
