Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Need some opinions.
My VERY large employer (330,000 worldwide) just restarted their Political Action Committee (PAC ) for US based employees (following the FEC laws). They say that they will be bipartisan, but I know better given that all 4 of our divisions are members of the WEF and our Chairman is a sitting WEF board member. They sent out a blast email asking for employees to join to help support the “candidates” that align with our business and objectives (meaning reducing global warming, carbon output and creating a “sustainable future” without useless eaters and supporting DEI).
We can contribute via personal check or direct payroll deduction. Apparently, they will use our earnings to do as they please because the 9 committee members “determine what candidates are eligible for contributions”. Those that contribute have no say, or at least they haven’t opened it up for discussion yet.
My question: should I contribute $1, just so I can keep tabs on exactly who and what evil issues they are supporting? They threatened me with termination for not getting the required covid injections, so I’m probably already on their radar. I realize I’m working for the enemy, but I can’t afford to bail out and lose what I’ve accrued after 25 years.

Follow your conscious. Don’t leave yourself open for regret. ❤️
So what happens if you opt out of contributing?
They say it's completely voluntary, but I find it strange that they are asking people to donate to political candidates we have no vote in choosing. 🤷♂️
