More importantly, the Democrats need a wedge issue more than anything heading into this election cycle. It’s pretty much do or die for them, so don’t count on them taking seemingly crazy moves in the next eight months.
Replacing a leftist judge with a leftist judge would gain them noting. If they were going to use the "offum" strategy, they would target a conservative judge.
