You’re talking like you know God personally. Like what He can do and what He will or will not do. You place limits on God…that’s pretty ignorant of you. All through the Bible it’s written God protects His children. God, can do whatever He wants. He does shield those if needs be. He protects when He wants to protect. If it’s His Will, then it will be done. There is nothing He can’t do. You mention suffering. Well whose to say that’s a bad thing? Jesus said in Luke.
Luke 6:20-21 (NIV)
“Looking at his disciples, he said: 'Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. '”
If people expect to go through life with zero pain and anguish in this world, that’s foolish. If I lose everything, what have I really lost? Worldly things? They have no value. People, Christians like myself, have a bad habit of thanking God for all the gifts and comfort..we’ll call them blessings. But are those blessings? Jesus just said “blessed are those who”. I will thank God for the ups and downs. Because this life, this vessel, is temporary. Many people on this forum see utopia coming. With what, electing one man? That’s a lot of faith for a simple human. That’s not what I see. I see it getting worse. In scripture it doesn’t get better, as far as the world. It’ll get worse. Much worse. I’m ok with that. It’s expected. Will God prevent it? That’s up to Him. We can pray for His mercy. Does America, or this world deserve mercy? I know my answer.
I think we mostly agree. Except on this: Satan controls (i.e., he enslaves). God allows free choice. God will not remove free agency, so He does not control His children.
