There was a restructuring of the fed under Trump. It was sort of merged with the Treasury and now BlackRock manages trades for the Fed in various markets that the Fed is not legally allowed to.

There's an old q post about it that links to a tweet that links to a yahoo finance article that mirrors a bloomberg article.

The whole thing is weird, I'm not really sure what to make of it.

Wow, yeah I missed that one. Thanks for filling me in, and I can definitely see reason to be uncertain about it. Don't know if it's a good thing for Fed to trade where it normally couldn't, or even if BlackRock should be trusted with that responsibility. I'll admit that what I don't know about finance could likely fill a large room, but this sounds off.
