Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat

Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.

Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment

-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)

If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Thank Goodness we have this crazy place, is right! It is hard to even believe what Evil is being cast down upon us ATM. Canada has gone insane and I live in the Capital City. Although, I now have a GF in another City so I can get out of this place from time to time. I saw Queen play in 1981. Freddie Mercury was my idol until the Police and Sting came along. I'm sorry your Mom ruined your chance to see 38 Special in their Prime. My favorite concert was seeing the Rolling Stones in Buffalo in 1981. George Thorogood and Journey opened for them. Thanks for sharing parts of your life with me.
Dang I’m jealous of you seeing Freddie. My husband loves Thorogood and can sing by heart One Bourbon. I told him we should go see him. That sounds like an amazing concert. It’s ok about 38 special. I got her back in college. I was briefly at college in Richmond, VA and went to see Loverboy. Also saw Heart around 1987 they were really good. That was my most listened to cassette back then. A country kid out of small town USA on the floor close enough to see really good was pretty amazing. My first concert was Alabama in 81. My dad took me & there friends. Fast forward from my teens and I didn’t go to another until the 2000s. I’m not counting the free Beach Boys concert in the 90s. I had a lot of their albums as a kid but wasn’t impressed. We left early. That’s a reason why we haven’t been to see older artists. I saw Willie Nelson twice and he still had it. Some need to go to the house! I regret not going to see Deff Leopard and Phil Collins. We were very poor when we got married and the only thing we did for entertainment was go to Nascar races in driving distance during the early 90s. Back then the car dealerships gave away the Busch series tickets. We paid for tickets a few times a year to the cup series. Had a baby and she became priority. We couldn’t care less about missing races or concerts. I can’t imagine living in a big city but I’ve only known rural living. I’ve been to NYC twice and Philly once. I loved NYC and always wanted to visit one more time. Most definitely not a place I could live. It’s what you get used to. Crime is very bad in my area. I think it’s a combination of drug use, gangs & the criminals know they aren’t staying in jail. I don’t have figures but I believe it’s increased at least 50% in the last year. I went to Canada when I was 9, Niagara Falls, Toronto & Montreal. I don’t remember a lot, the falls & going to an underground amusement park maybe in Toronto. Great talking about the good ole days. Be safe fren.
Thanks for sharing more the of fun chapters in your life. Your Husband sounds like a keeper. I also know all the lyrics to One Bourbon. Btw, Since I mentioned Sting yesterday, today he has announced a North America tour of the US and Canada. He must have been reading our conversation. 🍿
Oh yeah no doubt or Sting has ESP. I accidentally said ESPN once to my husband referring to ESP so now that’s our ESP phrase. Lots of people don’t believe in it. One of us will be thinking of something and the other will say it. It’s kinda weird. I liked a few police songs but never got into them. My college roommate loved Sting & Police. She has been to some shows. I’m up for any live music even if I don’t know the artist. By then I was into classic rook, 80s hair bands and country music. Hubby is most definitely a keeper! My one year old granddaughter is settled down by music, even at just three months old. If she likes the song she squeals and throws up her hands. She liked one bourbon🤣 Also nice to hear about the music you like and the concert adventures.
