This is a fascinating video from 1986. It has me now re-thinking everything I thought I knew about nuclear power.

Video is 48-minutes. My TLDW:
Galen Winsor is a nuclear physicist who began his work in 1947. Galen is renowned; he worked at, and helped design, nuclear power plants in Hanford, WA; Oak Ridge, TN; Morris, IL, San Jose, CA; Wimington, NJ. Among his positions of expertise he was in charge of measuring and controlling the nuclear fuel inventory and storage. He shows that fear of radiation has been exaggerated to scare people … so a few powerful people can maintain total control of the world’s most valuable power resource. Filmed by Ben Williams in 1986.
He says that there is no such thing as “nuclear waste” because the plutonium is recyclable. He also says plutonium and uranium not nearly as dangerous as advertised. He even eats a piece of radioactive material on camera!
He alleges that the lies about the danger of nuclear are designed to scam energy customers to pay extra fees to the government for special “housing” while the plant is in service, and then happily relinquish ownership of the “waste” to the government. He hints that the government is essentially stealing valuable assets from its rightful owners, who are the consumers who paid to have the material refined for their electrical grids.
He alleges the nuclear “waste” isn’t really buried, that they are empty containers (or maybe contain evidence of crimes, such as dead bodies) and the real plutonium is stolen by bad actors who understand the tremendous value (he indicated mafia). He says another bonus of the “waste” being illegal to dig up is that no one will ever try to gather the evidence that was buried down there.
He says the value of the nuclear “waste” is more than the national debt (this video was made while Reagan was president). He claims the insurance industry also knows and turns a blind eye because they can charge nuclear power customers enormous amounts of extra premiums to ensure the plants.
He claims the three-mile island nuclear disaster wasn’t an accident — 2 months prior to the plant opening, they were warned the equipment was set up wrong and would cause issues within a year, yet they knowingly moved forward and the “accident” happened exactly one year after they opened. He said they also distorted the info to make the “accident" look worse than it was (ie saying it was running at over 4,000 degrees, in a tone that indicated it was abnormally hot when it is the normal running temp, etc). Shutting down nuclear plants for “safety concerns” also jacks up prices to consumers and pushes other types of power consumption.
He thinks there should be a small, locally run nuclear reactor every 10 blocks that power individual neighborhoods = energy independence for each neighborhood. He says that these little reactors can be mass-produced cheaply, but the federal energy cartel will never go for it because they want to set the price, availability and whether you can hook on to it (power, domain and control).
Side note: Relatively early on in the video, he claimed that after WW2, the United States gave Russia the plans to build their own nuclear weapons along with the materials to do so. My thought on that was “All wars are bankers wars. The bankers fund both sides.” In this case, the Powers that Be made sure that both sides had nuclear weapons in order ensure that we all live in perpetual fear of nuclear war.
Slow, but worth it.
