Knowing what I know now, I can't help but wonder if bursting economic "bubbles" are the elites' way of punishing countries for doing too well without their permission, and are their way of taking us down a few pegs and leaving us worse off than before.
Let's use another country as an example.
A few weeks ago, I saw an anime called Gunbuster, released in 1988-89, for the very first time. You could easily tell it was riding high on the bubble economy the country was going through at the time--it is surging with national pride, background details saying that Japan has basically taken over the world through economic power rather than warfare. As was said in Die Hard, released that same year, "Pearl Harbor didn't work out, so we got you with tape decks."
But around 1992, the bubble burst, and Japan fell into a massive recession so hard, that country still has yet to fully recover from it.
Note that I am absolutely not an economist. Economics, especially macroeconomics, are absolutely waaaaay over my head--I have never been able to make much sense of them, which is one reason I'm making this topic. Apologies for any frustration this may cause.
Or maybe I just wanted an excuse to tie some great anime into our biggest enemies. Who knows.
Gunbuster is fantastic, by the way--it's only six episodes, and I cannot recommend it enough, including the excellent English dub that was finally made last year, cast completely by unknowns looking for their big break, and all of them knocked it out of the park. Don't look up clips, just watch it.
Let me take this question. There are multiple layers to what you are asking and we have to consider them separately. First - general economic boom and bust cycle. Second - Specifically Japan's economic boom (baburu jidai) and within that - three aspects: 1. General financial cycle aspect, 2. Destroying Soviet Union and 3. Cabal faction change of guard.
At a very broad level, "economy" as we call it, based on Central Banks fiat currency system is all about stealing wealth from countries using the same 3 step forumala:
Illusion of economic growth: Create a private central bank that is granted the power to print paper money. Create illusion that this money has value by international banking system. Carefully control who has easy access to this paper money, what and they do. Generate demand for this economic activity using masterful techniques (Like wars, colonisation, consumerism, feminism, etc etc.)
Indebting the country: The more a country's economy grows using fiat currency system, the more they are in debt to the central banks. Just like any ponzi scheme, the profits and economic growth is just an illusion. The only thing that grows is debt. This balloning of the debt is what looks like the economic bubble. Housing prices will skyrocket. Share prices will skyrocket. People will be able to drive around in expensive cars. All based on debt. All illusions.
Destructive event to cleanup the evidence: When the bubble reaches a certain point where this illusion can no longer be maintained, its time to orchestrate a "cleanup event". This is when the bubble gets bursted but people will always think its due to some external unfortunate factor. Like wars, pandemics, "greedy people", depression, etc etc.
When the bubble bursts, thats when the Bankers make their wealth - which is not measured in currency but in real assets, because the debt is always backed by the countries resources and access to power. During the bubble burst event, the Bankers consolidate their wealth by either making changes to the country's laws to give them more power/access to resources, or collect on collateral (Real Estate, Gold etc) to pay off part of the debt.
The economists call this the boom - bust cycle, but its not a natural phenomenon. Its a carefully designed ponzi scheme.
In the supposed CIA handbook Silect weapons for Quiet Wars (Which is also a must-peruse book for economically interested Anons) this is summarized as:
(Sounds technical but if you read the whole handbook, it basically is a model for economics which parallels an electric circuit.)
Will answer Japan specific question separately.
I had considered saying an "apologies to bubble_bursts" line in there, because I had a feeling you'd chime in.
No wonder you chose this username.
Thanks for this.
As a side note, I know I talk about Japan and their artistic creations a lot, but I assure you I'm a white guy from Texas. I just don't want to see them fall like, say, the UK has. They should be proud of their heritage, just as we can be, and I want them to reach the heights they were once capable of, just as we will when Trump returns.
