I gave up bacon and shrimp because I kept getting parasites. Life without bacon is very hard. Upgraded all beef to very highest quality in attempt to compensate.

Biblical references to avoiding pork are for health reasons and this is why Jews and Muslims avoid. It apparently has to do with shortcomings in pigs digestive system relative to cows and the fact that pigs eat anything, including human corpses.
