The word "pharmacy" comes from the Greek word pharmako- which means "magic, charm, cure, potion, medicine". Pharmako- is a combination of the Greek term pharam and the Indo-European words bher- (to charm, enchant) and -(a)-ko-. The Latin version of pharmako- is pharmacie.
