We’re used to each fresh food too, but in order to keep the long-lasting stock up to date you need to really eat it, but it’s to a fresh food so at some point you get tired of it and you switch to fresh.
Canned food is so full of salt that I try to avoid most. One option is to donate the close-to-expiration-date food to some shelter or food bank (but I missed that chance a few months ago; now it's the "eat-it-if-I-really-need-to" batch :)
That’s not difficult.

Eat the stock to keep the expiry dates in order.
Eat a lot of fresh so you don’t get tired.
