That just doesn't make sense, why in the world would he do that and lose so much money? Also, wouldn't it be super obvious if this data is really showing what everyone here is saying it does?

Money can just be printed or wired to an offshore account by some random nobody.

There are many ways for the powers that be to replace money lost as a cost of doing business.
