My job was eliminated a few months ago. I've had a couple great opportunities that didn't come through. Had a couple contract gigs that I started, and for pre-existing reasons were cancelled within my first week. I went from two locked-in options and two contract backups to nothing in a 6 week period.
I'm fortunate that I had surgery to fix a major long-standing medical problem early last year, and I am beyond grateful that the surgery was successful and was done under my then-employer's insurance.
At the moment I'm struggling to mentally recover from the four lost options and to get traction on restarting the search. I have been through this before, and God has always put me in a better place. I'm trying to stay positive, but could really use this community's support.
In Utah, one of the things our department of workforce services provides is job rehab. Learned about it from some medical staff that were injured & couldn't continue to work. Workforce services paid for their full recover after assessing if they would be able to continue working in their current profession after rehab, or if there was another job that they would be able to preform after rehab instead so they could get the proper care to be able to work at the new career if needed.
I am amazed that Utah has some great programs like this among the other BS programs we find everywhere including here. This one is meant specifically to help individuals who want to work, get back to work, instead of wasting tax dollars studying duck erections for example.
If you happen to be in Utah you will be able to take advantage of it if needed. If not, maybe your own state has something similar.
Still wish this was via a charitable donation, though it is a far better use of tax dollars than the vast majority of programs out there.
