Bosnia or Kosovo? If it was either though I’d imagine it would have been more dramatic, jigonistic, and patriotic. Not dismal and even borderline afraid of whatever struggle lies ahead.

He also explicitly mentions ‘They’ referring to a group. If it was just an event or something else. I’d imagine he would have used a more generic ‘It’.
