They used to use friendly colours on the news like yellow and green and were happy when it reached double digits.

I completely agree.

Images of old TV weather maps of the UK and other parts of Northern Europe from 30 or so years ago of summer temperatures in the high 20s were seen as a welcome sign of a pleasant and enjoyable summer!

Not any more! Now we have to fear the heat and comply with Government Climate Dictates!
