It is not worship. It is being the sovereign of your life and pursuing to stand in your right. The whole HIERARCHY idea is based on a sacrament, as it literally means: governance by a high priest.
Let' s presume that objectivism is the leading zeitgeist. What does that have to do with believing that Jesus died for your sins? It is perfectly feasible to think so.
Does objectivism preclude you from being kind? Does it preclude you from being sympathetic? Nope. It simply means being sympathetic is not the leading idea and you are the last arbiter of what you are allowing or not to take place.
If this is the choice (heresy: herein, Greek: to choose)) of knowledge (gnostic = gnosis, Greek: knowledge) then by all means, I am guilty as charged. But you are guilty of an even more egregious sin. You fail to worship God with all your heart, soul and mind.
It simply shows how totally locked up in the authority of other people you are. Only you can remove that impediment.
Don't lead your life following an atheistic philosophy please.
Gnosticism is a heresy, it denies the humanity of Jesus, there is no atonement as there is no sin to be atoned for, except for ignorance. I don't know why you bought objectivism into this, and as for it being the foremost zeitgeist these days, the war against the God eaters we are in overshadows this utterly.
There once was a time when my ancestors believed that Wralda created the universe and everything in it. They held that they were free. They held that to remain free, a love for virtue was necessary. They held that those who would sell their freedom, or who would take someone else's freedom, even at the point of the other being indebted to them, was such an evil, they would kill and burn, not only the evil doer, but also his mother. Because she has failed the most basic of things: instilling in her child a love for life and freedom.
Life and liberty lead to choice (herein = heresy), and the declaration of the will; contract (= right of the sovereign). Anything that diminishes life or freedom is anti man, anti freedom, anti-life. Anyone diminishing life or liberty is the enemy of life and freedom. Such a person is pure evil and dark.
Light, as we are from the source (And God said: let there be light, yes? And from light comes all matter, including our bodies), means life, and life means free. It is that simple.
This is what is right.
By failing to comprehend the word heresy, as heresy means: choice, matters of import are obscured from your view. From your perspective, it seems, anything not in accordance with your orthodoxy means heresy. The word heresy then has become larded with negative connotations from a religious cult point of view.
And, as you by now undoubtedly have gathered: any word can be made into loaded language. We also have political cult loaded language. All these loaded language words are thought stoppers. A little death.
It is the spell, the spectre, the phantom, the projection, the fiction, the appearance that eventually leads to bondage and death. It starts so innocently, but the thinking stops nonetheless. It achieve a diminished position of man almost instantly.
It is even worse for those who allowed other people to become the authority and stand between them and God.
To become free from such restraints and predicaments, well, that is quite a thing. And I have seen situations in which people still struggled with it 20 years onward.
So, I hold to the sound view of my ancestors. To keep language for what it is intended to be used for: for the conveyance of knowledge (gnosis) and contracts with honor.
If that is my sin, I embrace it.
In terms of original sin, the concept alone is ridiculous for small mindedness. When you really think about it, it is equal to the idea, -also fostered by the same people, by the way, I guess they know how to tell a story-, that Germans used a diesel engine to gas them and kill them. Only people hailing from backwaters would say so. It is totally illogical, unproductive, not conducive for a host of reasons, I am sure you can easily gather. Even worse, those who have bought into the religion of the holocaust, stop to think about these matters. They simply subject themselves, surrendering themselves to and they gulp sown with gusto the kool-aid, also known as bullshit.
With this original sin idea causing the requirement for saving, it is totally illogical. And what was the culprit: obedience; not knowledge. The Gods have never prevented man from knowing. But obedience is always at the heart of things. And thus, these stories only breed one thing: more obedience. And it is obedience that is the enemy of life and freedom.
Or would you argue that there can be obedience to an authority issuing good commands? Well, you are still acting as the trusting fool being obedient. You have relinquished your own authority to choice by right.
And so we come to the real culprit behind these ideas. It is the idea that you are separate from the creator, a lie, so pernicious, that those who thought otherwise were slaughtered in the name of salvation.
I guess my ancestors were right: bad habits (vice = lack of virtue) breed pests.
That said: Our deeds are either right and light or wrong and dark, by our deeds we proof to be a man of life and freedom and thus a friend, or evil and an enemy of life and freedom.
And what is beyond our deeds, well, that is for each of us to account for.
