All digital security becomes obscelete overnight the second quantum computing goes online.

Not necessarily - lattice-based cryptography has shown to be resistant to quantum attacks. The challenge is ensuring that protocols are all upgraded to utilize it before quantum cryptanalysis becomes commonplace.
