There's no reason I've ever seen in 30 years that they fail and come back...... 2 minutes later. They fail and stay failed until power returns and/or some other physical intervention is administered.

Uninterruptible power sources are standard fare for emergency equipment. In catastrophic occurrences, that is one system you want running.
