Mitochondria always only come from the mother's side. A cellular component , father only provides DNA no cellular components.
Yeah, that sounds right. So there wouldn't be any from the father, anyway. I vaguely remember the scientist saying there was (something like) 23 of these things and normally there would be 46 but the father's wasn't present. Which of course would make sense in this case. Thanks.

I am not into those genetic / genealogy sites, and never put that together. But yes, what you say about the 23 and 46 does ring a bell. Have you ever seen the video I mentioned?
