I graduated as an electrical engineer/software engineer, but high school drafting, wood shop and especially machine shop were my most valuable courses. These basic, practical courses pay dividends daily for me.
When I was in grade school, after every story we read or the teacher read, we were asked, " what is the moral of this story?" We memorized poetry, were exposed to in depth study of the works of Shakespeare. Herman Melville, George Elliott. We had weekly book reports with teachers who had read most of the books in the library. We were exposed to plays, performances from the Lyseum program and twice yearly symphony concerts. We were told this was to make us into a well rounded adult.
I received a pretty good, classical education from country schools.
TOTALLY AGREE. Just looked up the ARC project again and it seemed also compelling. I hope " Amazing Polly" is wrong on this guy.
It's because the education system is designed to create obedient workers.
They don’t teach Morality either
Thrilled that in Louisiana a bill is going through the motions to give parents $15,000 per year, per child in state taxpayer money for private school tuition.
Public school officials are losing their minds. The thing is the competition might just force the public schools to up their game.
We have a veto proof majority which we won't need because Gov. Landry supports this. I don't foresee a problem with the bill making it through the legislature.
