A simple analogy is this: Do people in whatever country who die without ever having heard of Jesus still make it to heaven?

That might sound like a crazy comparison, but the point is... if you haven't heard about it (which is what the poster claimed) it's awfully difficult for me to judge them as being willfully stupid. We can't all be on top of everything just as you have been.
