The entire act of gay sex between men has been seen a way to transmit parasites. Lesbians have been tolerated by and large historically because their transmission mode doesn’t include feces.

Parasites can move through the mucus membrane of the vagina but it’s less likely than anus. It’s a public health issue. Also 80+% of gay men have parasites. Much larger percentage than the hetero population.
