UPDATE: Sydney Bishop Stabber Is a Radical Muslim - Angry Christian Crowd Gathers Outside Church - Threatens to Lynch Attacker -...
A large crowd of angry Christians gathered outside the Assyrian Church in Sydney, Australia, where police are holding the man who stabbed four people during a church service.
I wonder what the gathered Christians who want the attacker would do? As a fellow Christian, I know what your impulse reaction would be…now, what would Jesus expect you to do? Technically the attacker is a victim of Satan. Do we throw out all of Christ teachings and butcher his guy? Do we crucify him? The attacker should and will face judgement from man here on Earth. I’m looking forwards to the priest response to this. I’m betting it will be spot on to what Jesus would expect. As in forgiveness. As in do not blame the attacker, blame the one who brings forth sin. Who knows, maybe the attacker will be an advocate for Jesus one day? When something like this happens, it isn’t just a test for the attacker, or priest….it’s for all of us. But, we are human. And are tired of injustice. So it’s hard no doubt. What’s the best we could do?
Justice on earth? That's unlikely. Would you be ok with them shooting him dead in the church to prevent this?
Oh I agree. Earths justice is a joke. To little for high crimes, to much for next of nothing. But that’s justice from man here on Earth. Nothing like God’s justice. Which will always be perfect in judgement.
To prevent a stabbing I’d imagine getting shot is viable. Our church has a security guy or two. I’m sure they are armed. If a man wielding a knife appeared, it’s very possible they would shoot the attacker dead. Not sure. Personally if I had my gun on me in church, and an attacker was stabbing people, if I had a shot I’d probably take it. Sitting here I would hate to. But I wont hesitate to help someone. Maybe the guy wouldn’t be killed? I wouldn’t unload the mag on him. Just get him down.
Fuck that, we want his blood. Just like the good old times.
Then we'll ask Jesus to forgive us. Just like the good old times.
Hmm.. I don't feel very positive about committing sins with the express purpose of apologizing for it later.
I think Earthly justice should include the death penalty for him, but it shouldn't be done just because we can ask for forgiveness after.
Great points and thank you for sharing. Obey the laws of man and the laws of God. If they conflict with Gods law then follow the law of God.
Actually yea, exactly this. Not saying it’s always easy, but you put in a very simple yet very correct manner.
Render unto Ceasar that which is Caesars
He is subject to man's law. It may be unjust. It may be incorrect.
If you break Caesars laws; you are subject to Caesars laws
If you don't break Caesars laws; you are subject to Caesars laws.
As a Christian we must consider all these questions. To not question and just react with anger and throw sticks and stones is definitely never what Jesus intended for us. By asking these questions alone you're already showing compassion, what it is to be a Christian and the cross we must bear daily.
We want that kid to pay for his crime and be put in jail. But we also pray for that kid to repent and follow Jesus. At the end of the day, that's what Jesus would want because He loves us all. Imho It's such a bittersweet teaching that many disciples were said to have left him.
Thou shall not kill. Doesn't say anything about laying down a righteous ass whooping.
Thou shall not murder. Big difference.
That’s what Christian ex-special forces army ranger John Lovell said in his interview with Shawn Ryan.
The true translation is "thou shalt not murder". Killing, in self defense for example, is not murder.
Although one needs to understand the original distinctions of murder, rather than modern day revisions. Which could also change further in the future.
Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
