In hindsight it seems like an oversight that the Judges presiding over a case have the power to recuse themselves or not from the case. Especially after potential conflicts of interest have been discovered that could potentially affect the outcome of the case.
It seems like in the event such potential conflicts of interest are discovered. A Secondary group of say 5 Judges should be called to decide whether that first Judge is fit to preside over the case. With the group needing to return a minimum of 3/5 approvals or else the first judge should be recused and a new judge appointed to oversee the case.
