Personally know nothing about knives, but my sf cw5 bil said once, "they are only cool in the movies. Do not actually depend on one for fighting.'

Fixed blade is more effective for fighting.

Switchblades are effective for crime, especially OTF (out the front) because the idea is that they get close to their target with a smaller footprint and jam it up into them.

If you're an honest person, and your local laws aren't retarded like Michigan's notoriously difficult to maneuver knife laws (seriously. Apparently it's gotten better, but it still makes no sense) a fixed blade could be a good last resort defense.

Bonus that when the zombies come, you'll have a good knife with you!
