It's a change, Russia nor any country has never taken US assets. Russia is emboldened with their bricks alliances and potential member states in removing western hegemony.

It certainly an escalation, our economic stabilty and national security is bad but it's gonna get worse. It's not Russia we need to fear it's their allies, they're not gonna be humane if they do win. This war is a lose/lose situation for us
