Farm raised. I've had to put down several dogs in my life and make no mistake, I love my dogs. I trained labs (retrievers) for years and I have had a dog by my side all my life except for the last few years. I spent a lot of money on them to keep them comfortable until it was time. There is no way I would have taken one of my dogs to a vet's office and let a stranger put them down. I wanted them relaxed, comfortable and at ease so I took them to the places they loved most. With my labs it was mostly out on my farm in the woods or beside one of the ponds. I always sat down with them, talked to them and loved on them before I put them down. I used a small caliber to the brain stem and they never knew it happened. Every one I buried I buried a piece of me with them.
Fully agree, huge Weimaraner lover here. When it was time, the last two that I've had hired Lap of Love vet to come to the house. Both dogs comfortable on their bed, relaxed and peaceful on top of their favorite blanket and surrounded by their favorite toys. It is the hardest decision as a pet owner to make. With both rescues with me 10+ years, when I first got them I told them I would never leave them. Held true to that promise as they did as well with their love and compassion. May sound silly to say but, was an incredible honor taking their still warm bodies to the funeral home for cremation....as truly I was not going to leave them.
