That's such a terrible cherry picked and flawed way of analyzing this. You're really going to compare subscribers between two platforms using a single account. When that account saw its limelight 5+ years ago before tiktok was even a relevant platform. A large percentage of those subscribers are inflated and meaningless even in the context of YT. Ofc they have no subscribers on tiktok. But raw metrics of political oriented content isn't even the core of my point either.
I asked YOU what metric supported YOUR assertion and you didn't provide any. So I picked one that was very easy to get. If you think you have access to better metrics, by all means get them and actually prove what you're saying.
I'm certainly not going to waste my time trying to find videos from the same creator released in the same time period covering the same subject and seeing if it had more views on Youtube or TikTok. I don't even think I have access to statistics like total minutes of video viewed or anything.
Yes but the very fact that you would think that is even a worthwhile example to put forth is already a problem in of itself. Your take that TikTok is only favorable in the sense of "useless influences" and "stupid dancing" metrics shows you only have a surface level view of the platform and very little experience actually using it.
You also want me to pull metrics out of thin air to support my claim, when you yourself don't keep any metrics on hand to support your claims of the contrary? You picked one that was easy to get? It's easy to grab trash out of the dumpster as well, that doesn't mean it serves any meaningful point to this conversation.
I've first hand used tiktok and seen information circulating around there that you also see on these boards. Sometimes I've seen information there before anything has even been posted here if at all. My girlfriend's feed is full of posts regarding a variety of topics that is much more quick to be censored or never seen the light of day on other platforms. She's had family members that were historically liberal that completely got awakened everything due to posts circulating on tiktok. I also have a friend that used to eat up all the leftist bullshit that is now completely flipped due to tiktok.
A considerable part of the Q movement reaching the masses has had to do with tiktok. Especially in 2020 with the fake pandemic was when I started to notice an uptick in normal people really being exposed to all of this information. Almost anyone I ever talked to in public heard about these things due to tiktok. And that expands to any other "conspiratorial" topic under the sun. Sure you can find it on some of the other platforms, possibly X, youtube if you know where to look, etc. But you're gonna be a lot harder pressed to find this information on facebook, instagram, etc. Which is where most of the population was located before tiktok really took off.
Why else would our government be so concerned with banning it? You think they give a damn about the Chinese government accessing our data? Facebook and all the other major platforms have already been handing over to them for years. They don't give a fuck about that shit. They are coming down on it because it's playing a large part in reaching and waking up the normie populations.
It's not about what I think, it's about the claim YOU made that you have not provided any evidence to support. The burden of proof is on the person making a claim, not on the people asking what the basis for them making that claim is.
So, instead of discussing the information I provided, why don't you provide the evidence to support your claim? I don't really think you have access to that information.
I think if you re-read what I said you'll find I didn't suggest TikTok is only favorable in the useless dancing metrics, I actually said I don't think Tiktok fares as favorably in the news/politics/opinion as it does in useless dancing. And I'm not suggesting Youtube is materially different and I'm sure the biggest reach videos aren't insightful commentary. I SUSPECT the longer form content Youtube offers is better positioned for worthwhile commentary than TikTok, but I don't have metrics to support that.
As to why our government wants to ban it, they don't want to ban it, they want to ensure they're the ones that control it, not China.
??? You started this off with a claim. My comment was in response to that. You also have no metrics at hand to support your claim that TikTok doesn't give you access to censored information.
I think it's lame to try and check someone demanding metrics when you yourself cannot be bothered to do the same. The onus has been on you from the beginning. You're also constantly shifting to points that have very little bearing on what is actually being argued.
Yes, they're the ones that want to control it, but why do they want to control it? You're missing the entire nuance of what is going on, just because it seems you want to uphold your faulty outlook on a platform you probably haven't used much.
