Here is the problem with that. The Senate would have to approve any political position that he would be nominated for. No way the Senate would approve him for anything. The only way he gets in government again is either Trump picks him as his VP (keeping it out of the Senate) or he picks him for a position the Senate isn't responsible for giving consent.
Flynn would have to rely on the voters for VP, but realistically anything else worth his time would be killed by the Senate.
