Was necessary. China produces 10x as much steel as US. What if war breaks out?
Matter of national security, geopolitics …to prevent war, peace trough strength.

Why is steel so important? Let's look where steel -was- produced in our country. These cities are blue strongholds, still, and many are located around areas of poor minorities, since mills closed and wealth left the area. If Trump brings these people back in to work he can effectively eliminate blue-collar/poor black democrat areas. AMERICAN STEEL

Wow…thanks for the post. Continuous Learner here. ☘️💚🐸
Welcome fren
My guess is, this has less to do with Biden and his election and more to do with Trump wanting to keep the steel industry thriving in the US.
I mean it’s not exactly thriving. Wasn’t exactly thriving under him either. He quite successfully averted its continued decline though. Which is more than anyone else can claim at least
But it’ll take major demand to truly jumpstart the industry and bring it back to thriving. Probably akin to. Trumps proposed “Freedom City” plan. Being the chartering and construction of 10 new major urban centers and supporting suburbs on previously undeveloped Federal land.
Which would probably create the kind of demand necessary to truly resurrect the mills and American Heavy Industry for that matter.
Fracking helped us steel alot
Some tariffs against cheap foreign steel would probably help out, as well.
I live in Pittsburgh and will tell you Nippon owning US Steel is not a problem. They will run it like a business and make it work. If some enterprising team starts there own mill, I could see Nippon working with them as long as it is mutually beneficial.
We have ruined our own infrastructure enough. Time to do some housecleaning, wipe the tears and start out fresh.
Boots on the ground wins every time- thanks fren☘️💚🐸
