We've never had any problems in national parks, except being uncomfoclose to wildlife at times.
Here's a suggestion; Dongive up on the west or national parks, and try my all-time favorite place, Zion National Park in Utah. I guarantee you'll love it.
I actually have been shot at, when I was in the USMC some years ago. It reminded me of a quote by Winston Churchill: "Nothing is so exhilarating as to be shot at with no effect." Yup, exhilarating alright!
Nothing like the whirr of the bullets over your head! I wasn't absolutely sure they WEREN'T trying to shoot AT me, so it wasn't so exhilarating at the time.
I had three nights scheduled for Zion, two at Bryce, and multi-days at morth and south rims of GC.
Maybe next year :)
Here's a challenge for.... hike Angel's Landing in Zion. It's the most thrilling trail you will ever hike.
I had read about it and was looking forward to it! However, I have arthritis in my hip and any hikes longer than 2 miles start to hurt pretty bad (so I'll do 4 mile hikes because I can handle it hurting on the way back :) )
Well, Angel's Landing is short...but it's almost straight up and down. Look at it on YouTube to see what I mean.
