Maybe, my only question is why answer door with pistol in hand when he announces sheriff department. If you don't think its sheriff department don't answer door. If you did, put pistol down so they can't deem you a threat.
This doesn't add up for trained military to respond like that unless was out of instinct or fear because he would have known outcome of answering door with gun in hand.
He could not hear the officer and only heard the knocks, this is substantiated by the witness as well. When the airman got no response after calling out, as the officer obsecured himself after knocking the first time and was walking around the unit to attempt to look inside, that’s when the airman got the door.
This is not the expected outcome of answering your own door with a legally owned gun in hand, otherwise the 2nd amendment is null and void.
If someone is in a home and answers the door while holding a gun it should be illegal for a cop to shoot them unless they aim the gun at the cop. The protocol should be that they should also draw their weapon and aim at the person to be in position to neutralize them IF AND ONLY IF they raise their gun.
2A must be strengthened
Big 2nd amendment supporter but respectfully disagree here. I would easily argue over 50% of the time citizen with gun drawn when officer approaching is in the wrong. Her's the thing; why have gun drawn? You know when you draw that weapon all bets are off.
To say they should be able to react in that split second is madness...cops have a heard enough job as is. So many on here trash them, screw it I stand for them, greater than 50% are good. Always a couple bad apples but the majority still good. My point is, it is impossible to have us play Monday morning quarterback in these situations. Play stupid games win dumb prizes. Sure some will down vote me but without the law were would we be...sorry. I will always support the law as opposed to lawlessness. Quite frankly sick of all the vitreal towards cops, they have a hard job, lets stop sH*&ting on them constantly.
I guess I can see your point here but damn it. What if they think it's an intruder dressed as a cop?
You present a valid point and that does happen...don't have an answer for you outside of have to bank on likelihood they are who they say they are and are not impostors. But yes happens all the time in robberies now.
I have a few questions about this whole situation... but why did they call him decorated?? what decoration did he earn in military college that matters?
I was also wondering that; whole thing is off.
