Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Here's a quick video I saw this morning before work. We've had some major solar activity lately, and it's why the aurora was seen from Hokkaido recently. A solar blast is inbound, and when that reaches Earth, it'll warm us out of the cool weather we are currently enjoying. I checked out the weather report and saw that it'll be 7-8 degrees warmer (Celcius) by Saturday. With this amount of solar activity being absorbed by the ionosphere, we'll likely have another hot summer. Then the news media will play it up and make it seem like such warmer weather has never been experienced since the dinosaur age, and then the elites will blame it on carbon dioxide molecules and push for increasing taxes which will only benefit them and not change a damned thing on Earth. Solar activity. It's really that simple. It's not due to capitalism or racism or "the patriarchy" or homophobia or whatever nonsense. It's the sun.

Suspicious Observers have really been a wealth of information for me in the last few years regarding the impact of solar weather on our planet. A great daily watch.
When the sun is flaring, so do I, there is a link with flares effecting certain autoimmune issues here on Earth. All I can tell you is that I could hardly walk on the days it was peaking, and then, like a sea change, I am better.
😂😂😂 So true!
Climate crisis.
Well, solar activity and the Milankovitch Climate Model, in which Earth has an elliptical orbit that wobbles and it also tilts on its spin axis.
