It is hard to believe, and yet, we have had serial killers doing exactly that for almost all of human recorded history. I once was roommates with a serial killer, unbeknownst to the whole friend group I had at the time, when I was in the Navy. His name is John Eric Armstrong, aka "Opie." That's what we called him on board USS NIMITZ. His story is why I believe that there are people out there capable of having a "secret life" of a murderer.
Look him up. His story is strange and sick. And absolutely NONE of us knew until he was arrested a couple years after he got out of the Navy...with an Honorable Discharge no less.We all thought the dude was a great guy, and he was a good friend back then. But he was severely mentally and emotionally disturbed...only none of us knew it back then. That's how well he hid it.
Wow that’s a crazy story and one you’re lucky to be able to tell 😳. I have a pretty good gut instinct but like in your situation, they are so good at deception that unless you know the signs, you’ll never recognize it. Sobering thought.
