Sprawl is bankrupting our country in multiple ways. The roads cost a fortune to create and maintain. Mostly the stores that get built are these national/globalist chain stores, that put local businesses out of business and treat workers like toddlers. Cosco, Walmart, Dollar Stores are all owned by rich assholes or faceless hedge funds. The exist to vaccuum as much money out of your town and to put as little back as possible. And to think, we're all paying for the very expensive roads and infrastructure so that these companies can swoop in from wherever and plop down a dollar store in an old corn field on the edge of town.
It's criminal and we as a country need to get away from the sprawl-development type and return to small walkable towns with smaller lots, walkable schools, shops, restaurants. It's only in these smaller towns that local businesses can survive and thrive.
It's either the traditional American town, or the stripmalls+box Stores+8 lane roads sprawl that has been killing our businesses, towns, economy, and is now driving us to the brink of financial insolvency as a country.
Really...you just reminded me of Obongo saying you didn't build that...Oughta track traffic and charge who's frequented the most like Wally mart.
It's amazing to me how important a "consistent product" is for most people. As if everything must be a standard, known quality, even if that quality is complete 💩 - like somehow we've all been groomed to prefer manufactured slop that is database/automation, QC controlled consistency friendly. Nothing outside the "norm" because it won't fit in the proverbial database/data type.
What I mean is, most prefer a big box to mom and pop hardware, mostly for one stop shopping, and that also applies to food - they'd rather get slop of a known quantity, than risk the freshly made soup du jour could be a flavor they don't like at a non-chain... and of course, coupons. You assholes and your fucking coupons. Nothing good, or good for you, ever has a fucking coupon.
