I think the jury here was fraudulently constructed in a manner that ensures conviction.
So there are two paths that this can reasonably follow and they depend on the appeal process.
In one, the appeal is successful, because there are obvious conflicts of interest and backroom deals and payments, no illegal act was committed as highlighted by the FEC declining to bring a case, the case is absurd on its merits and the witnesses it has relied on are a porn star who has said in the past that the affair never happened and a multiply convicted perjurer who continued to perjure himself on the stand.
And two, the Appeals Court upholds the conviction furthering the justification that the Courts are irretrievably broken and that Military Tribunals for civilian defendants are the only way forward.
I lean towards one. There are tons of other cases that show the Courts to be broken.
I think the jury is going to vote guilty even if they sat in the jury room watching 'My Favorite Martian' episodes all day. It's a foregone conclusion.
