Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Interesting.. remember the founder or CEO of Zappos died by suicide or fire? I wonder if they were trying to silent him. Ecco is a good quality brand for shoes but I'd recommend buying directly from their website.
I ordered seltzer once a dozen of those and they were shipped from Walmart. Go figure.
I didn’t know about the Zappos CEO. I’m not sure if Amazon was affiliated at the beginning. I’ve been ordering from them at least ten years. I’ll check out Ecco, thanks. I’m in flip flops more than anything but need whole shoes for winter. These flip flops are really good. I can walk in them a long time. I’m not sure about now. If you don’t have much arch might not like em, great high arch support. Hawaii life guards used to wear them on the beach. They don’t get slippery when wet and dry quickly. Chaco’s sandals are great, very rugged and it’s like a tennis shoe on the bottom.
Ah flip flop for summer time. I've been having a hard time finding a good one too. They're selling those at Costco but they don't look too nice. Amazon has some nice ones but they ship directly from China and sometimes take weeks to arrive. They never last long either. If you go to the beach areas they usually sell them at the surf shops and at better deals imo
P.S This was the Zappos CEO - Tony Hsieh
On July 22, 2009, Amazon announced the acquisition of Zappos.com in a deal valued at approximately $1.2 billion
I can’t wear the cheaper shoes anymore, not enough support. I wish I could there’s some cute shoes on the market, used to very thin sole sandals and shoes. Even though OluKai is made in china it’s a really good shoe. I can’t speak for any type other than Ohana flip flops. My only complaint is after 3-5 years the sole gets slick. I save those for wearing in the house if I’m on my feet a long time. Clearly I haven’t kept up with Zappos selling.
